It's been a long nearly 7 months of being apart, living through the phone and computer. I'm FINALLY reunited with Sailor. We're spending all the time we possibly can together.

Day 26 - A picture of something that means a lot to you

This may be a little ridiculous to you but OPSEC is very important to me. If you're wondering why, because you aren't military related, it's because it could bring him home much later than the original date, it could put him AND his shipmates in danger, & I want him home safe with me on time. That's just to name a few..

February.. why so quick?

Actually.. I could careless why you're passing by so quick! Can you believe it's the last full week of February?! I can & can't all at the same time. I feel like we just started this year! The next thing we'll know it'll be March & we'll be preparing for Operation: Homecoming. Not complaining about that, either! ;)


I can say I'm pretty fortunate that this deployment has gone by so quickly but if I didn't have a job, friends, my girls or family it wouldn't even prepare because it would have gone by sooo freakin slow. Ugh!


I can only imagine what it would be like if I didn't work 49 hours a week. I'd probably be sitting in bed all day watching Netflix like I do now that I'm still at my parent's house. It was a good break from work, from WA & having to be completely independent. I'm an independent person.. maybe that's why deployment wasn't so bad for me. It blows but I don't waller myself in pity, either.


When Sailor left for his first fast cruise last January.. well, let's just say it wasn't pretty. I didn't leave the house for like a whole week. It was pretty depressing but it had been the first time he'd been away from me for 8 months & I wasn't with family. I lived at home the first 9 months he was in the Navy because he was in Great Lakes for boot camp then Pensacola for A-school. Plus, I was working full time & it completely consumed my life. I looked forward to getting off work because Sailor would be out of school at the same time usually. & I visited him once a month while he was in Pensacola. Now, I couldn't even see myself NOT moving with him but it's what I had to do.


I totally lost my train of thought soooo, I think I'm going to get ready then take my girlies to PetSmart because they LOVE going there :)

Day 22 - A picture of something you wish you were better at.

I'm usually pretty good at remembering or even putting the meaning with the abbreviations that Sailor throws at me but I'd love to learn more & be better at it.

Answers:

1. I'd have to say my favorite MilSpouse blog is definitely Ann Marie over at Household6diva!
2. My favorite thing about Sailor being deployed is all the extra money we get that we can save or even pay off some of our debt with. Plus, he gets to see all kinds of different countries & cultures. When he first deployed I didn't think there could possibly be an upside to something so depressing. I was wrong. I've grown so much as an individual.
3. Wow, Sailor & I always get asked this. & we always get the same response "WOW, that was quick!!" Anyhow, we dated for 5 months before he proposed & we got married. We started dating on 14DEC07, he proposed to me on 11MAY08 & we got married 19MAY08. It was quick, people doubted us but we've been happily married for nearly 3 yrs!
4. I honestly don't know what he'd do if he wasn't in the military. I met him after he had already decided this is what he wanted to do & he had already signed his contract.
5. Ya know.. I'm not really sure about that one. I've never even thought about that.

Call a Sailor (Marine, Coastie, Airman) a Soldier & see what happens..

I've been holding this in for a LONG time now but the more people I see calling all branches of the military 'soldiers' the more pissed off about it I get. And the sad thing is.. most of those people are military wives/brats/mom.. whatever. My Sailor is NOT & I repeat NOT a fucking soldier. I have NOTHING against any branch of the service & I look at them all equally but if my husband or any other military member in another branch besides Army was called a Soldier.. I think there would be problems.


Do you see people calling Soldiers 'Sailors' or even 'Coasties'? No, I didn't think so. Regardless if it's in 'insult' or not.. it's not politically correct. Someone on my Facebook tried to correct me & tell me 'anyone serving (or fighting.. don't remember) in the military is a soldier.' Not quite. A Troop maybe? Definitely not a Soldier. I know countless Sailors, Marines, Airmen, etc over in the sand box right now but that does NOT make them Soldiers. It makes them troops.


Do you guys see the yellow ribbon magnets that say "Support our Soldiers".. I sure as hell don't. I see "Support our TROOPS." I'm exactly sure why this is such a hot topic to me but it is. If my husband wanted to be called a Soldier he would have joined the Army. & before you say they all do the same thing or they were all trained the same way.. take your bullshit on to the next page looking for pity because this isn't the time or place for it. My husband wasn't trained like Soldiers. Soldiers aren't trained like Marines & so on. They all go to boot camp/basic & they all do conditioning but it's ALL on a different level of intensity and the goal of all their training is different.


If you want to tell me that your Marine is better than my Sailor or even that my Sailor is better than the next.. you're wrong. They're all human, make mistakes but most importantly they're fighting and working for the SAME goal.


I try to not bitch or vent much on here but this REALLY pissed me off. I'm not in the best of moods to start with then I saw yet another person say "Thank you Military Wives for standing behind your Soldiers." I didn't comment on it but I just kept reading down my news feed as if I didn't see it. I posted something on MY facebook page where I have the right to & someone tries to correct me. I can stand to be corrected when I'm wrong. & I gladly take advice but when someone wants to pull a definition from the dictionary of a Soldier & tell me it fits all branches.. you seriously have lost your mind.
